Care
to spruce up your Spring with something fun and exciting? We have just the thing! Join us for a special Improv-For-Everyone Workshop. Designed for everyone regardless of experience, the workshop will guide you through
fun and playful improv exercises in a gentle and supportive atmosphere.
Improv training isn’t
just for actors or comedians. Much as yoga helps you to stretch your body and relax your mind, improv exercises help
you to relax your body and mind, exercise your imagination and creativity, and build skills and attitudes like these:
- self confidence
- communication
- trust and collaboration
- adaptability
- optimism and playfulness
- empathy
- awareness
And, oh yeah: Improv is FUN!
The workshop is taught by Gary Jacobs. Gary as been
teaching, producing, and directing improv for 28 years in Washington, D.C. In addition, Gary has taught improv in California
and New Zealand. His last eight workshops in Bethesda, in Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, and Ventura, California, and
in Auckland and Christchurch, New Zealand were sold out. Gary is currently artistic director of Precipice Improv
Theater. Here are several student
comments about the same workshop taught last week on Valentine's Day 2009 (Lauren K's comments above were also about this
class): "The class was great.
It was my first improv class and it was a way to break out of the everyday routine and let loose." Erin F
"This class opened up my hidden childhood." E. Momanyi "This
class has shown me a way to direct an already had talent." ChrisFor reservations or to request further information click here

Here's a review of one of his previous workshops:
"I was always jealous of my friends who had an 'artistic outlet' - a way to express themselves outside of work and
family. I can barely draw a stick figure and I leave musical instruments to people who can play them. Stepping into Gary’s
beginning improv acting class opened that creative door for me. Anyone can do it. Blissfully, “talent” or being
funny isn’t required. All I needed was the desire to have fun. Gary takes care of the rest. Going to improv class is
a highlight of my week, and no, I’m not a recluse! As a bonus, the class has given me the confidence to speak in front
of others when the need arises. Think wedding toasts and presentations. I’m so glad I found this class!" -
